In Algebra and Pre-Algebra class, we learn how to think, measure, calculate, and draw,

among many other things. Math is a discipline that teaches the mind to think in logical

patterns, to see relationships, and to solve problems in a structured way. Math teaches

students how to see beyond the numbers and find solutions. We do this in various ways,

from interactive games, contests, hands-on activities, and classwork.

My hope is to inspire students to look at the world around them, and see the possibilities of

this great planet we live on. Knowledge is power, and once we understand what is around us

and why, we begin to see the wonders and the possibilities that lie before us.

Albert Einstein said, “Everything that counts can’t necessarily be counted. Everything that

can be counted doesn’t necessarily count.” I believe that applies to education. We can’t

always measure the learning that is taking place, but everything we are doing in schools will

count someday as a useful part of their lives.
